WHEN ..?
Addictive Designs began in 2000, back when everyone was convinced the world’s technology would grind to a halt thanks to the infamous Y2K bug. Thankfully, computers survived, and 2000 turned out to be a pretty important year for me too — it was the year Addictive Designs was born, around 17 years after the internet officially came into existence.
WHERE ..?
Addictive Designs was created in Lancashire, in a small town called Thornton-Cleveleys, just outside Blackpool. It’s where the business started and where it continues to be proudly based.
WHY ..?
What started as a hobby quickly turned into something more. I used to spend hours at the computer creating designs purely for fun, often giving them to family and friends for free to help with their small businesses. Eventually, someone offered to pay me for my time — and that’s when it clicked. I realised I could turn something I genuinely enjoyed into a business. I designed my first logo to see where it might lead… and while that logo has changed a few times over the years, the passion behind the business hasn’t.
WHO ..?
My name is Jason, though most people know me as Jay. I was born in Coventry and lived there until I was 18, when I followed my first big dream and joined the British Armed Forces. After leaving the Army in 1998, I moved into the advertising industry, starting out as a Data Input Specialist in St Annes. Before long, I progressed into website design, creating sites for estate agents — and the rest, as they say, is history.
